On June 27, 2025, Geoneon was honoured with the Top Tasmanian Tech Innovator or Start-up award at the 2025 TasICT Excellence Awards, held at the Wrestpoint Function Centre in Hobart.

Hosted by TasICT, the annual awards celebrate the best and brightest in Tasmania’s thriving tech industry. This year, a record number of nominations showcased the state’s $1.7 billion ICT sector and its 12,500+ employees. The night spotlighted standout projects across artificial intelligence, smart infrastructure, and digital innovation — from real-time bus tracking systems to fire detection networks and Minecraft-driven city planning.

Geoneon was recognised for its pioneering work at the intersection of Earth Observation, AI, and climate resilience. Our tools — including vegetation mapping, bushfire severity and exposure indices — help governments, insurers, and infrastructure operators better understand and prepare for environmental risks. In Greater Hobart alone, our bushfire risk platform has assessed over 100,000 buildings to support planning and preparedness.

Geoneon CEO Roxane Bandini-Maeder accepted the award just hours before departing to Laos for project work. “This is a huge honour for our team,” she said. “We are a small company with a big mission — using satellite data and AI to build a safer, more resilient future. This award is a tribute to our incredible team, our early adopters, and the partners who believed in us from the start.”
